Hiking on Tahiti Island
Take in the local views on foot
Guided hiking tours and camping trips are a great way to view the ecology and evironment of Tahiti island. Your guide can help suggest equipment, clothing and
the difficulty of each trek. Hikes include burial caves, lava tubes, rivers and natural jacuzzis.
All day and half-day hikes are available.
Walking through the Fautaua Valley can be easily handled my almost anyone. View waterfalls, flora and lush green vegetation.
An all day hike to the Hamuta Pass takes you almost 3000 feet high along the Aorai trail. This is a medium level hike, but well worth the views of canyons
and gorgeous native flowers. Difficult hikes to Fare Ata will take you 6000 feet above sea level. Try an expedition to Mount Aorai at 6700 feet for an added
challenge. For these more rugged hikes, equipment such as wetsuits, headlamps and gloves are provided along with meals and drinks.
The most challenging two and three day camping trips to the cliffs of Te Pari should only be attempted by seasoned hikers. Ravines and waterfalls abound on
this slick terrain while trekkin through the bush on this hike can be overwhelming for a novice.
Easy hikes will run 5.000 - 7.000 CFP while two to three day camping trips will run 15.000 - 24.000 CFP with meals and access fees being extra.
Ask about the different tours available at your resort, fare or hotel and find a hike that's right for you.
