Tahiti Wedding and Protocol

A wedding and honeymoon in exotic Tahiti can be a magical experience. But don’t forget that all major travel destinations involve a certain amount of preparation. Be sure to carefully prepare the necessary documentation prior to your departure. Getting married in Tahiti can be a challenge, especially for Non-French visitors.

Each person must furnish a birth certificate, must be of legal age and also must present a certificate of celibacy to prove they have never been married.

If you are widowed or divorced you must supply legal documents to verify this. If you have children you must supply birth certificates for them and have all papers legally translated into French. The birth certificates must be marked with a translation date, within the last 3 months prior to your wedding application.

Pre-marriage medical certificates are required within the last 2 months. Some local municipalites may require a certificate from your foreign country verifying that the marriage is legal.

You must also provide a certificate of residency for at least one spouse, proving that you have been a tahitian resident for at least one month. Many Travel agents and hotels can offer assistance in creating a magical Tahiti weddingmoon by combining your wedding and honeymoon into one.
